BBC: Apologizes to Trump, but No Compensation
The BBC has announced that it will apologize to the US President for broadcasting a program in which parts of Donald Trump’s speech were integrated in a way that was considered “misleading,” but will not accept his request for $1 billion in compensation.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Trump had threatened to sue the BBC, claiming that the network had published “false, defamatory, humiliating and inflammatory claims” about him in a documentary. He had emphasized that this action had damaged his political and personal reputation and that heavy compensation should be paid for it.

Following the broadcast of this program and increasing pressure, the BBC’s director general and head of news had previously been forced to resign; A move that has been described as a sign of the seriousness of the crisis within the British media organization.

However, the BBC has clarified in its statement that although it is ready to apologize for the "misperception created", there is no legal or professional reason to pay compensation and Trump's request is unacceptable.

According to reports, this case could expose the BBC to the possibility that part of the costs arising from the network's error will be covered by public payments in the form of "annual TV license fees", an issue that, according to analysts, is a new pretext for the network's critics in the context of the increasing number of citizens who have stopped paying their annual subscription fees.

In another development, Trump's legal team has announced that they have asked the BBC to remove the "Panorama" program, officially apologize to the US President and pay compensation commensurate with the damage caused; Otherwise, they will face legal action. The legal team confirmed on Thursday that Trump has not yet filed a formal complaint against the BBC.
