British Maritime Company: An Oil Tanker in the Gulf of Oman Diverted to Iranian Waters
The British maritime security company Embry announced that a crude oil tanker carrying the Marshall Islands flag, which was traveling from the UAE to Singapore, suddenly deviated from its course and headed towards Iranian territorial waters.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In a supplementary news report, British naval authorities said that three boats surrounded the tanker in the Gulf of Oman and escorted it to Iranian waters.

The British Maritime Trade Operations Organization also announced that it had received a report of a "suspicious" incident in the Makran Sea.

The incident occurred about 20 nautical miles east of Khorfakkan in the UAE and is still under investigation by maritime authorities.

Embry's maritime security company has suggested that the incident was a targeted action and that before the tanker diverted, three unidentified small boats approached the ship as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz, which increases the possibility of an attempt to seize it or take a hostile action.
