Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: According to the organization, Russia, Greece and the United States are at the top of the list of countries exporting refined petroleum products, and the United States is the only country that has sent military jet fuel (JP-8) to Israel. The organization emphasized that these countries were aware of Israel's crimes and their complicity has been documented.
Shadi Khalil of the organization told reporters that states are at risk of complicity in genocide under international law and the Genocide Convention, and that countries must accept their responsibility in this regard. The organization also commissioned research firm Datadesk to analyze oil flows and identified 323 shipments containing 21.2 million tons of oil during the period under review.
The war in the Gaza Strip began in October 2023 and has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 69,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories illegal and a UN commission accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. The court also issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.
Human rights researcher Irene Petropaoli also warned that providing military and fuel assistance to Israel could expose countries to complicity under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. In August 2024, Colombia suspended coal exports to Israel, and data shows that Brazil sent its last oil shipment to Israel in March 2024, although the likely route of the shipments may be via Italy.
