Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ismail Baghaei, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, today (Saturday), November 15, warned of the dangerous consequences of the increase in US military moves in the Caribbean and Latin America on international peace and security, and called for respect for Venezuela's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman considered the threat of resorting to force against the legitimate and elected government of Venezuela to be a clear violation of the law and a gross violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter, especially the principle of the right of nations to self-determination and the principle of prohibition of the use of force as stated in Article 2, Paragraph 4 thereof. Referring to numerous reports by international authorities describing the US attacks on fishing boats as arbitrary and extrajudicial killings, he emphasized the need to stop abusing the issue of combating drug trafficking to violate the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela.
He also recalled the responsibility of the United Nations and the Secretary-General to prevent violations of international peace and security and the promotion of belligerent unilateralism at the international level.
