Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to Dawn News, Tahir Hussain Andrabi, spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, said in a press conference that Pakistan is always in favor of finding peaceful solutions to issues through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman appreciated Iran’s offer to mediate.
Andrabi said in response to a question about reports that Tehran is trying to convene a regional meeting to mediate between Islamabad and the Islamic Emirate: “We believe that Iran can play an important role.”
He added that Pakistan will not shy away from any role of mediation on Iran’s part.
Earlier, Ismail Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a press conference on Monday last week in Tehran, in response to a question from an Ava reporter about Iran’s new efforts to mediate between Afghanistan and Pakistan, emphasized Tehran’s concern about any tension on the country’s eastern borders and said that Iran is ready to provide any assistance to resolve the issue and prevent the escalation of tensions between the two countries.
In mid-November, the third round of talks between Islamabad and Kabul, which was held in Istanbul with the presence of Turkish and Qatari mediators, ended without any agreement.
These talks were held after deadly border clashes between the two sides in October.
