OCHA warns: Funding for earthquake victims in Afghanistan is insufficient
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said only $35 million of the $111 million requested to help earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan has been provided, and that despite helping 211,000 people, more support is needed to get people through the winter and deal with the humanitarian crisis.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - OCHA wrote on X that 211,000 people have been provided with assistance since the earthquake, but the available funds are severely insufficient to continue providing assistance.

The agency also noted that a devastating earthquake recently shook northern Afghanistan, causing casualties and damage in Samangan and Balkh provinces.

In addition to these natural disasters, the return of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries continues, with more than four million people returning from Iran and Pakistan in the past two years.

OCHA warns that the combination of natural disasters, drought and reduced international aid has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and requires urgent attention from the international community.
