Iraqi MP Arif Al-Hamami announced that the Shiite Coordination Framework, as the largest parliamentary faction, will announce the final candidate for the post of prime minister within three weeks at the latest.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Iraqi MP Arif Al-Hamami emphasized on Saturday (November 29) that the Coordination Framework, as the largest parliamentary faction (consisting of victorious Shiite coalitions that won nearly 200 seats), is the only legal authority to introduce a prime minister candidate.

He added that several names have been proposed within the Coordination Framework, but ultimately a candidate agreed upon by the faction will be selected and then presented to other political groups for a parliamentary vote of confidence.

Stating that there are "no serious complications" in the government formation process, Al-Hamami said: Adhering to the constitutional time limits and broad political support will facilitate the formation of a new government.

The MP expressed hope that the future government will be formed based on meritocracy and experience, and that the cabinet will be formed of efficient and experienced individuals.
It is worth noting that the sixth post-Saddam parliamentary elections were held in two stages (November 9 and 11) with a participation of more than 56% of eligible voters. The Shiite Coordination Framework has officially declared itself the largest faction and has established two specialized committees to review candidates and form a new government.

The official name of the Coordination Framework candidate has not yet been announced, but Iraqi sources report that a list of about 10 potential candidates for the post of prime minister is being reviewed.
