Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Sputnik, the agreement will include joint use of air bases, naval visits and regulation of procedures for the deployment of military forces. The agreement was submitted to the Russian Duma and is a sign of deepening defense relations between the two countries.
On February 18, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that an agreement with India has been signed to simplify military cooperation.
The agreement specifies the procedures for interaction between the armed forces of the two countries, including the joint use of air base infrastructure, coordination of naval visits and facilitating the deployment of each other's military units.
The main goal of the agreement is to create a clear framework for holding joint military exercises and events.
Russia has been India’s main supplier of military equipment for decades, accounting for a significant portion of New Delhi’s defense imports. India’s defense minister has called Russia a “reliable partner” in the defense sector and stressed the importance of such cooperation in strengthening his country’s military capabilities.
The agreement not only enhances operational cooperation between the two countries, but also reflects strategic convergence at a time when India is seeking to diversify its defense partners and Russia is seeking to strengthen ties with Asian powers.
