Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Amer Al-Fayez, a leader of the Coordination Framework and head of the Decision Coalition, announced today (Monday, December 1) the increase in the number of candidates for the prime ministership of the future government and the mechanism that will be adopted to select the final candidate.
Al-Fayez noted that the opening of the nominations by the Coordination Framework for the prime ministership has so far led to the registration of more than 30 individuals.
He said: The nominations were made individually and not through the framework groups.
Al-Fayez stated: The committee formed by the Coordination Framework will hold talks with all the candidates, after which the number of candidates will be reduced to only 10 candidates, after which the names of these people will be presented by the formed committee to the leaders of the Coordination Framework to select one of them through agreement based on the established indicators.
It is noted that the leaders of the Coordination Framework had previously formed a three-member committee to register candidates for the future prime ministership.
The sixth post-Saddam parliamentary elections were held in two stages on Sunday, November 9 (special voting including the armed forces and refugees) and Tuesday, November 11, a general vote with the participation of more than 56% of eligible voters, despite the boycott of this event by Muqtada al-Sadr.
Coalitions and political parties representing the majority of Iraqis, the Shiites, have collectively won nearly 200 seats in the new parliament, and the Coordination Framework for Shiite Groups recently officially declared itself the largest faction and announced the formation of two committees to consider forming a new government.
The largest faction is tasked with nominating a prime ministerial candidate to gain parliamentary confidence.
