Al-Burhan: Disarmament of Rapid Reaction Forces is a condition for any solution
Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of the Sovereign Council and commander of the Sudanese army, stressed that he will not accept any political plan that does not lead to the dissolution and disarmament of the Rapid Support Forces.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The commander of the Sudanese army stated that the war has affected all the people of Sudan and great suffering and calamity is underway in the city of Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

Al-Burhan emphasized that the only solution for Sudan is to destroy the so-called rapid reaction militias.

He said that the rapid reaction militias must be disarmed and the blood shed must be avenged.

Stating that all Sudanese people have tasted the bitterness of war, Al-Burhan said: I invite all citizens who can take up arms to join the army to fight the rapid reaction militias.

The head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council stated that the Sudanese government must be rebuilt based on sound principles.

Ahmed Hamdan Daqlo, known as Hamidati, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, announced a unilateral humanitarian ceasefire last week that would include a three-month cessation of hostilities in Sudan.

The move comes hours after Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the army chief and head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, refused to accept the Quartet’s proposal to resolve the crisis the country has been facing since the war began in April 2023.

Burhan described the plan as “the worst proposal ever presented” because it eliminates the existence of the armed forces, calls for the dissolution of all security organizations, and leaves rebel militias in their areas.

More than 15,000 people have been killed and more than 8 million displaced since the fighting between the Sudanese army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the country’s Sovereignty Council, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohamed Hamdan Daqlo, began in April 2023.

The United Nations has repeatedly warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the country, adding that 23 million people in Sudan are food insecure and that there is a risk of a catastrophic famine in Sudan.
