The UN Security Council will discuss the mission of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the UN Security Council said on Monday.
The meeting is also scheduled to be attended by UNAMA Acting Director-General Georget Ganyon and officials from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The council is likely to adopt a resolution on the recent escalation of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the agency said.
The resolution may express concern about escalating tensions, call on both sides to refrain from further military action and encourage them to resolve disputes through diplomatic channels, the Security Council said in a statement.
The exact date of the meeting and the detailed agenda have not been finalized.
The meeting comes as UNAMA's mission was recently extended by the UN Security Council.
