Expanding Pharmaceutical and Medical Cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met today in Kabul with Mehdi Pir Salehi, Deputy Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Food and Drug Administration, and Alireza Bekdali, Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan. In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the development of joint cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical production, medical equipment and increasing exports.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met today in Kabul with Mehdi Pir Salehi, Deputy Minister of Health of Iran and Head of the Food and Drug Administration, as well as with Alireza Bekdali, Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan.
 
In this meeting, Mehdi Pir Salehi, Deputy Minister of Health of Iran, announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand its cooperation with Afghanistan in the field of pharmaceutical production and medical equipment and increase pharmaceutical exports to Afghanistan in the long term.
 
He emphasized that Iran has the necessary capacities for joint production and transfer of technical knowledge in the field of medicines and medical equipment, and this cooperation can help improve the health situation in Afghanistan.
 
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, while welcoming the proposal, assured that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and relevant institutions will fully cooperate and are ready to advance joint projects.
 
He added that Afghanistan needs to develop the health sector and better access of people to medicines and medical equipment, and cooperation with Iran can play an effective role in this regard.
 
This meeting indicates the expansion of economic and health relations between Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. An agreement on joint cooperation in the production and export of medicines and medical equipment can pave the way for improving health services in Afghanistan and strengthening relations between the two countries in the economic and humanitarian spheres.
