Mediation between Kabul and Islamabad not on the agenda of the Tehran meeting
The Assistant Minister and Director General for South Asia at the Iranian Foreign Ministry has announced that the goal of the regional meeting on Afghanistan in Tehran is solely to exchange views between special representatives of neighboring countries, and the issue of mediation between Pakistan and the Islamic Emirate is not on the agenda.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to Iranian domestic media, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Assistant Minister and Director General for South Asia at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, has emphasized that our goal of this meeting is to create a space for exchanging views and presenting the views of special representatives of Afghanistan's neighboring countries.
 
Bahrami added that the Islamic Republic of Iran wants to strengthen convergence and mutual understanding regarding relevant developments in the upcoming meeting.
 
The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also stated that Afghanistan can play an important role in connecting the region, developing the economy, and strengthening regional security, and that the countries of the region have common interests in this regard.
 
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran previously confirmed that Tehran will host a regional meeting on "developments related to Afghanistan" next week.
 
Referring to the recent tensions between the Islamic Emirate and Pakistan, Ismail Baghaei said: "We hope that this meeting can play an effective role in strengthening convergence and resolving tensions."
