Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-International Service: According to Al-Mayadeen Network, following recent developments in the region, Baghdad hosted a meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Brad Cooper, Head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The main focus of these talks, which took place in the Iraqi capital, was to examine the security challenges existing in Syria and their consequences for regional stability.
In this meeting, Al-Sudani, referring to his country's defense capabilities, emphasized the full readiness of the Iraqi armed forces to block the borders and neutralize any movement by the remnants of ISIS.
One of the most sensitive parts of these negotiations was the examination of the situation of the penitentiaries where senior ISIS members are held; the parties expressed concern about the possible dangers these centers pose to Iraq's national security.
According to information released by the Prime Minister's Media Office, Al-Sudani emphasized the need to determine the role of the international coalition forces based on a precise timetable.
He called for cooperation to be directed towards providing technical, administrative and logistical support services so that joint missions can be carried out with a higher safety factor.
In contrast, the CENTCOM commander, while praising Iraq's professional approach in managing security cases and transferring dangerous prisoners, emphasized Washington's continued comprehensive support for Baghdad.
Also in this meeting, the two parties reached important agreements on finalizing the process of transferring the management of the Ain al-Assad base to the Iraqi army in line with the strategies of combating terrorism.
