Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Russian Ministry of Defense announced: 26 Ukrainian drones were shot down last night over the Bryansk, Smolensk, Belgorod and Crimean provinces.
Vasily Anokhin, the governor of Smolensk province, also announced: Seven Ukrainian drones were shot down over the province and no casualties or damage were reported.
Despite the continuation of political negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, the war in the border areas continues.
Earlier, Matthew Whitaker, the permanent representative of the United States to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), had said: Washington expects the issue of territorial disputes to be resolved in the coming days and weeks.
He had said that participants in the negotiation process to resolve the Ukrainian crisis are currently working on four final documents. A 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific US security guarantees, and a post-peace economic growth and prosperity plan.
Despite several rounds of talks, the war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Territorial issues remain the most important obstacle to a successful outcome of the talks between the two sides.
Russia and Ukraine are trying to seize the initiative on the battlefield as well as in the negotiation arena by maintaining and expanding the territories they control.
