Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_International: Various American cities, including Minneapolis, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., became the scene of public protests against Trump's immigration policies for the umpteenth time on Friday.
Protesters declared January 30 a "national holiday" and called on all Americans to close schools, businesses and shopping malls and join the protesters.
The American people also shouted their opposition to funding ICE forces.
In the short time since his return to the White House, Donald Trump has angered Americans with his immigration policies, especially his use of violence against people, and has faced a significant decline in popularity among the people of this country. The protests have reached their peak with the deaths of two people in the past month.
Renee Goode and Alex Pretty were among those killed by immigration officers in the space of about a month under the pretext of “self-defense,” but video footage tells a different story.
Renee Goode, a mother of three, was driving away from federal forces when she was shot in the head.
Alex Pretty, a 37-year-old nurse who was trying to help two women, was surrounded by several federal forces and eventually shot dead.
With Pretty’s death, the people of Minneapolis resumed their protests. In an attempt to quell the protests, Trump ordered an investigation into Pretty’s death; however, the protests have not only not subsided, but have also spread to other cities in the United States.
About 3,000 federal agents have been deployed to Minneapolis under Trump’s orders. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has said it is trying to arrest the "worst illegal immigrant criminals" to restore security to the state of Minnesota, but critics say immigrants with no criminal record and even ordinary American citizens are being caught up in the clashes.
