Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-International Service: Nouri al-Maliki, head of the Iraqi State of Law coalition, has said in a statement: The choice of our government and officials is a completely national issue and must be respected just as we respect the choices of others.
He continued: Respect for our will, our democracy, and the right of our people to choose their political system and leaders through constitutional institutions is a fixed and unshakable principle for us and we will never back down from it.
The head of the State of Law coalition stated: The results of successive elections show that the people and institutions responsible for the state-building process have well understood the concepts of democracy, freedom, and political participation and have been inspired by them.
Al-Maliki noted: "We will never compromise the people's right to choose a person they trust and see as worthy of leading this stage. We adhere to our national will and independent decision, and we expect others to respect this decision just as we respect their will in managing their affairs."
He continued: "We want to establish balanced political, economic, and security relations with regional countries and major powers, based on common interests and free from any interference."
It is recalled that previously, Nouri al-Maliki, the candidate for the new Iraqi prime minister, in response to the interventionist remarks of US President Donald Trump, considered it a clear interference in Iraq's internal affairs and a violation of the country's national sovereignty, and strongly condemned it.
