119% increase in orchards and 21% in vineyards compared to 2011
The National Statistics and Information Administration announced that based on the figures of the current year, there has been an 119% increase in orchard areas and a 21% increase in vineyards compared to 2011, which constitutes a total of about 17% of the country's irrigated land.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the National Statistics and Information Administration, in a press release, said that this year, using remote sensing technologies, geographic information systems and satellite images, it has mapped the area of ​​orchards and vineyards in the country, based on which about 258,000 hectares of land are covered by orchards and nearly 100,000 hectares by vineyards.

Considering the figures, the provinces of Zabul, Paktika, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Daikundi and Ghazni have seen the largest increase in the area of ​​orchards and the provinces of Faryab, Zabul, Herat and Ghazni have seen the largest increase in the area of ​​vineyards.

The press release said that Zabul province has the largest area of ​​orchards with 30,031 hectares, followed by Uruzgan with 24,182 hectares, Kandahar with 20,578 hectares and Ghazni with 16,642 hectares.
