Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): In an interview with Russian journalists today, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations said, referring to the US's escalation of tensions in the West Asia region and the threat of military action against Iran, that he hopes the United States and its allies will use their wisdom and behave more constructively.
The senior Russian diplomat warned that "any military solution is unacceptable and dangerous and may have regional consequences."
At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the Russia Today network, in response to a question about the escalation in relations between Washington and Tehran, that "Iran is our partner, our close partner and our neighbor. Of course, we are not indifferent to how the current developments develop."
He stressed Moscow's readiness to participate in resolving the situation in the West Asian region, warning about the "explosive nature" of the tensions.
Lavrov said, "This situation is particularly potentially explosive not only for Iran itself, but for the entire Middle East. There are many mines ready to explode."
After media reports about the cancellation of planned talks between Iran and the United States due to Washington's refusal to agree to a change in the venue and format of the talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced last night that the nuclear talks would be held in Muscat on Friday, February 17, at around 10 a.m.
Al-Mayadeen reported, citing an Iranian source, that the aim of the US's excuses about the venue of the talks, which was initially announced as Turkey, was to evade the agreements reached on the negotiation schedule, and that Washington, under pressure from Israel and the warmongers, sought to introduce non-nuclear issues into it.
