Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: "Eli Cohen", the Minister of Energy of the Zionist regime, announced on his page on the "X" platform on Wednesday evening that he personally supervised the power outage of the UNRWA office in occupied Jerusalem.
He announced that "in word and deed, I cut off the water to UNRWA, I arrived at the UNRWA office in the morning and was informed that its power was out, so I also cut off the water."
Cohen continued his tweet, claiming: "UNRWA has no place in Israel, this agency was the executive arm of Hamas."
According to the Anadolu Agency, Cohen sabotaged UNRWA's activities while the Palestinians are living in a catastrophic situation due to the consequences of the war on the Gaza Strip over the past two years, as well as the occupation regime's military operations in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli Energy Minister emphasized in an interview with one of the regime's radio stations on Wednesday that he would personally supervise the disconnection of water and electricity to the UNRWA office in East Jerusalem.
The Knesset (Israeli parliament) banned UNRWA's activities in occupied East Jerusalem in late 2024 by passing a law, and the regime's cabinet forced the UNRWA agency to evacuate its office in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem in early 2025.
On January 22, 2026, a group of Israeli forces stormed the UNRWA office in Jerusalem, took control of it, and destroyed it.
The Israeli regime claims that the land on which the UNRWA office is built belongs to Tel Aviv and that the agency is linked to Hamas, a claim denied by UNRWA and the UN.
UNRWA was established in 1949 based on a resolution of the UN General Assembly and was tasked with providing assistance and support to Palestinian refugees in five regions: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
This international organization is funded by financial contributions from UN member states and is the main provider of humanitarian aid, including food, shelter, health and education services to Palestinian refugees.
