Full text of the message by Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
To the people of the United States of America, and to those who, amidst the mass of distortions and fabricated narratives, seek the truth and a better life.
Iran: A Civilization That Has Never Been Warlike
Iran, with this same name, this same identity, and this same existence, is one of the oldest continuous civilizations in human history. A civilization that, despite possessing historical and geographical advantages at various times, has never chosen the path of belligerence, aggression, colonialism, or domination in its contemporary history. Despite experiencing occupation, aggression, and imposed pressures from world powers, and despite having military capabilities compared to many of its surrounding countries, it has never started a war, but has courageously repelled aggressors.
Distinction Between Nation and Government: A Deep-Rooted Principle in Iranian Culture
The Iranian nation has no enmity with other nations, including the people of America, Europe, and its neighbors. Iranians, even when facing foreign government interventions and pressures throughout history, have always distinguished between nations and governments. This is a deep-rooted principle in the mind and culture of this nation, not a temporary stance.
The Depiction of the "Iranian Threat": A Construct for the Political and Economic Needs of Power
Accordingly, portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with the objective realities of today. This portrayal is a product of the political and economic needs of power structures: the need to create an enemy to justify pressure, maintain military superiority, feed the arms industry, and manage strategic markets. Within such a framework, if a threat does not exist, it is manufactured.
American Military Concentration Around a Country That Never Started a War
It is the result of this very approach that today, the greatest concentration of American forces, bases, and military capacities has been formed around Iran – a country that, at least since the establishment of the United States, has never started any war. America's recent aggressions originating from these bases have proven the threatening nature of such a presence. It is self-evident that no country under such circumstances would neglect strengthening its defensive capabilities. What Iran has done and continues to do is merely reaction and defense, not the initiation of attack, war, or aggression.
The 1953 Coup d'État: A Turning Point of Mistrust in Relations Between the Two Nations
Iran-U.S. relations were not founded on confrontation, and the connection between the two nations progressed without hostility and tension. The turning point on this path was the 1953 coup d'état – an intervention carried out to counter the nationalization of Iran's resources. It halted the democratic process, reinstated dictatorship, and planted mistrust in the minds of Iranians toward U.S. policies. This mistrust has deepened every day through support for the pre-revolutionary regime, backing Saddam Hussein during the Imposed War, imposing the longest and most extensive sanctions, and ultimately, through direct military actions against Iran.
Iran, Unweakenable: Growth in Literacy, Education, and Infrastructure Despite Pressures
Despite these pressures, Iran has not only not been weakened, but has been strengthened in various fields: a remarkable threefold increase in literacy rate (from 30% to 90%), the development of higher education, progress in modern technologies, the expansion of healthcare services, and an incomparable and significant strengthening of infrastructure – all demonstrate this country's internal capacity and adaptability. These facts are observable and measurable, independent of media narratives.
The Devastating Impact of Sanctions and War on People's Lives; a Human Reality
Of course, one cannot overlook the destructive and anti-human impact of sanctions, war, and aggression on the lives of Iran's brave people. The continuation of military actions, including recent attacks, naturally affects the views and feelings of nations. This is a human reality: people who pay the cost of war with their lives, homes, cities, and future will not remain indifferent to those responsible.
A Fundamental Question for the American People: Where Are Your Interests in This War?
Meanwhile, a fundamental question arises: In whose real interest among the American people is this war? What objective threat from Iran exists to justify such actions? Does the massacre of innocent children, the destruction of cancer pharmaceutical centers, or the rhetoric of bombing a nation back to the Stone Age have any benefit other than further destroying America's global image?
Iran Committed to Its Obligations; U.S. Withdrawal from the Agreement and Attack Amid Negotiations
Iran pursued the path of negotiation, reached an agreement, and fulfilled its commitments. The withdrawal from the agreement and the move toward confrontation, followed by two attacks in the midst of negotiations, have been destructive decisions made by the U.S. government in pursuit of the greed of foreign aggressors.
Attacks on Iran's Infrastructure: A War Crime with Transboundary Consequences
The initiation of attacks against Iran's vital infrastructure, including energy and industrial facilities, is an act whose direct target is the Iranian people. In addition to being considered a war crime, its consequences will undoubtedly extend beyond Iran's borders. These attacks mean spreading instability, increasing human and economic costs, creating a cycle of tension, and sowing seeds of rancor whose effects will remain for years. This path is not a sign of strength; it is a sign of confusion and inability to achieve a lasting solution.
America; Israel's Proxy in Aggression Against Iran?
Is it not the case that America has entered this aggression as Israel's proxy and at the instigation of that regime? Is it not the case that Israel, by portraying Iran as a threat, sought to redirect world public opinion from its own crimes toward the unreal threat it constructed from Iran? Is it not the case that now Israel has decided to fight Iran using the last American soldier and the last cent of American taxpayers' money, imposing costs on Iran, the countries of the region, and America, while remaining in a safe haven? Is America truly first on the list of priorities for the United States government today?
An Invitation to Realism: A Look at Successful Iranians in the World
I invite you, instead of paying attention to targeted media propaganda (which itself is part of the war), to look at your friends who have come to Iran, at the statistics of Iranians who, after receiving higher education in Iran, are teaching and researching at the world's best universities or working in the most important companies. Do these realities match what the media tells you about Iran?
The Choice Between Confrontation and Engagement: The Destiny of Generations
The world today stands at a point where continuing the path of confrontation is more costly and fruitless than ever before. The choice between confrontation and engagement is a real and fateful choice – a choice whose consequences will shape the future of generations. Throughout its thousands of years of proud existence, Iran has seen many aggressors. Nothing remains of them but a name of shame in history, while Iran still stands proud.
