Save the Children says that on average, nearly one child is killed or injured by explosives in Afghanistan every day.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVNA) - Kabul: Between January 2025 and January 2026, 338 children were killed or disabled by explosives, including war remnants such as mines and other explosives, the organization said in a report.

According to the organization, children account for nearly 70 percent of all victims of explosives during this period.

Afghanistan has the highest rate of child deaths from explosives in the world, accounting for 43 percent of all children killed or injured in the world since 1999, the organization said.

More than 2.7 million people in Afghanistan live within a kilometer of the remnants of war, and nearly 5,000 contaminated areas have not been cleared, the International Organization for the Protection of Children said.

Most of the materials are located in pastures, the organization said; Areas where nomads live, especially nomads.

According to the organization, many nomads travel hundreds of kilometers each year with their livestock and camels to find water and pasture, and have limited access to basic services such as health, education and protection.
