The death toll from floods in the country has increased to 77
The Natural Disaster Management Authority announced that according to the latest statistics, at least 77 people have died and more than 130 others have been injured in the floods in the country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Natural Disaster Management Authority announced that from 6th to 15th of Amhar, at least 77 people have lost their lives and 137 others have been injured in the floods and heavy rainfall in the country.

According to the statement of the authority, during this period, 3,466 houses have also been completely or partially destroyed and extensive damage has been caused to infrastructure. Also, 5,811 livestock have been lost and 121 shops and stores, along with 337 kilometers of roads, have been damaged or destroyed.

The Disaster Management Authority also emphasized that this figure is preliminary and there is a possibility of an increase in casualties and damages.

Earlier, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, announced the number of victims of the flood at 61 and said that 116 others were injured. According to him, in addition to human casualties, these events have caused heavy damage to houses and agricultural lands.

According to statistics, 4 people are still missing and more than 2,400 houses have been damaged. Also, communication routes in some provinces have been blocked and access to the affected areas is difficult.

It is worth noting that in the past week, Afghanistan has witnessed unprecedented rainfall, with some areas, including Zabul province, receiving up to 50 centimeters of snow.

Floods are one of the deadliest natural disasters in Afghanistan and claim hundreds of lives every year.
