Kabul and Tashkent Focus on Health and Economic Cooperation; Uzbekistan Invests in Afghanistan’s Pharmaceutical Sector
In continuation of economic and health interactions between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, officials from the two countries have emphasized the development of cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, laboratory equipment, and joint investment.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Maulavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Administrative Deputy to the Prime Minister, met with Abdullah Azizov, Head of the Pharmaceutical Department of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical and laboratory services sector.

According to the details of the meeting, Abdullah Azizov announced the readiness of Uzbek businessmen and investors to invest in the import and distribution of pharmaceuticals in Afghanistan and emphasized that his country is committed to exporting quality pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan.

He also spoke of the readiness to cooperate in the field of providing laboratory equipment and improving the capacity of laboratory staff.

In contrast, Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi described Uzbekistan’s investment in this sector as an important step and emphasized that the Islamic Emirate hopes that economic and trade relations between the two countries will further develop.

The focus on cooperation in the pharmaceutical and laboratory sectors indicates Afghanistan’s move towards regulating and standardizing the pharmaceutical and medical market. In addition to strengthening the supply chain, the presence of Uzbek investors can provide the basis for technology transfer, improving quality control, and reducing dependence on non-standard markets. This cooperation can also lead to the creation of job opportunities and the growth of the private sector in Afghanistan.
