US Congressmen Call for Trump’s Removal Through the 25th Amendment
After Donald Trump threatened to attack Iranian civilian infrastructure, a number of US Congressmen and political figures called for the activation of the 25th Amendment, a law that allows the removal of the president in the event of his mental or physical incapacity.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): US President Donald Trump’s reckless rhetoric against Iran has increased domestic anger in the country and has made many prominent figures in the United States speak out.

According to media reports, Trump had previously posted threats on the social network Truth Social to attack Iranian infrastructure and power plants.

In response, US Representative Johnny Olshevski from Maryland wrote in a message on the social network X: “Easter is a day for peace and reflection. President Trump’s rhetoric is unacceptable any day, especially today. The president’s words do not reflect the teachings and values of Christ and should be rejected by all followers of Christianity.”

“The emperor has no clothes. It’s time to enforce the 25th Amendment. Congress and the Cabinet must act,” wrote U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico in a message referring to Trump’s failure to wage war with Iran.

The 25th Amendment allows the vice president to take over if the president is incapacitated (such as due to physical or mental illness).

U.S. Senator Jeff Markley of Oregon, on the other hand, said: “Trump’s Easter threat to attack Iranian civilian infrastructure, such as power plants and bridges, is the words of a desperate and immoral person. Many experts believe such attacks could constitute war crimes under international law.”

“To our military commanders: remember this – you are legally obligated to refrain from carrying out orders that would constitute war crimes,” he continued.

“Today’s (Sunday) post on Truth Social from someone sitting in the Oval Office demonstrates an unstable and inappropriate temperament that puts all Americans at risk,” U.S. Senator Bob Ruff of Connecticut said in a message.

“It’s time for Republicans to stand with us and either demand the 25th Amendment or call for a vote under Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution.”

Under Article 2, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, the President, Vice President, and all officers of the United States are removed from office if they are impeached and convicted of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

“This behavior by the President of the United States is reckless and unpredictable,” said U.S. Congresswoman Amy Klobuchar. “My Republican colleagues know this. It is time for them to show courage and join us in curbing his ability to wage this illegal war.”

“President Trump’s latest threats to Truth Social, if carried out, would violate the laws of armed conflict under the Geneva Conventions and Department of Defense guidelines. The indiscriminate killing of civilians in Iran and the destruction of civilian infrastructure such as bridges and power plants is irresponsible and wrong,” said Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan.

“Furthermore, it is our military that is at legal and personal risk, and when the dust settles, it is our military, not Trump or Hegsett, who will have to live with the consequences,” he continued.

“Trump’s speech on Iran is perhaps the clearest sign yet that the leader of the world’s most powerful superpower is a thoroughly deranged individual whose ability to carry out this responsibility, which was not immediately apparent,” Kenneth Roth, an American lawyer and human rights activist, wrote in a message on the social media platform X.
