Afghan Voice Agency (AVNA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said in a statement that the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Maulvi Ataullah Omari met with the Governor of Andijan Province of Uzbekistan Abdul Rahmanov Shakhrtak, the Uzbek Ambassador to Kabul Oybak Usmanov and a number of Uzbek businessmen and discussed bilateral cooperation and development.
During the meeting, important issues such as meat exports from Afghanistan, supply of agricultural equipment by Uzbekistan, establishment of transit facilities, import of chicks and sperm eggs, improved eggs and establishment of quarantine in Hairan port were discussed. The two sides also emphasized achieving long-term goals through mutual understanding and cooperation.
The Minister of Agriculture pointed out the importance of expanding trade relations between the two countries and said that Afghanistan is ready to produce, process and export agricultural products to regional markets in cooperation with Uzbekistan. He also called on Uzbek authorities to provide more transit facilities for Afghan businessmen.
Meanwhile, the governor of Andijan welcomed the start of Afghan meat exports to Uzbekistan and called it an important step towards strengthening economic relations between the two countries. He also stressed the provision of agricultural equipment and the development of joint cooperation to achieve economic goals.
The Minister of Agriculture added that as a result of the efforts made, meat exports to Uzbekistan and Iran have started regularly, but increasing this trend requires more investment and the establishment of standard livestock farms. He called on the private sector of the two countries to cooperate more closely to meet market needs and develop joint trade.
