Andijan Governor and High-Level Uzbek Delegation Arrive in Herat with the Aim of Expanding Trade Cooperation
Officials at the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Industries announced the arrival of the Andijan Governor, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, the accompanying delegation, and a trade delegation from this country to Herat.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)-Herat: According to officials, this high-level Uzbek delegation has arrived in Herat with the aim of strengthening economic relations, developing trade cooperation, and exploring investment opportunities.

During their visit, the members of this delegation are scheduled to meet with local Herat officials and representatives of the private sector and discuss expanding trade exchanges, transit, and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Also, examining the existing capacities in the industry, trade, and transport sectors is among the other goals of this visit.

It is said that economic relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have entered a new stage in recent years, especially after holding meetings and signing important agreements in Kabul. In this framework, Kabul, as the hub of economic diplomacy, has hosted several rounds of talks between officials from the two countries, as a result of which agreements have been signed in the areas of trade, transit, energy, and investment.

The most important of these agreements include facilitating the transit of goods, increasing the volume of trade exchanges, cooperation in infrastructure projects, especially the railway, and providing the ground for the presence of Uzbek investors in the Afghan market.

Also, during these meetings, the two sides emphasized the creation of new transit corridors, reducing customs barriers, and strengthening cooperation between the private sectors; an issue that plays an important role in connecting Afghanistan to the markets of Central Asia.

Experts believe that continuing this process and following up on the Kabul agreements in practice can help increase the level of bilateral trade and transform Afghanistan into an important transit crossroads in the region; an issue that the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Herat can also be evaluated in this regard.
