Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to international sources, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters in New York: "There is no military solution to this crisis, and achieving peace requires lasting interaction and political will."
Emphasizing the importance of the dialogue process, he added: serious negotiations should be resumed and the ceasefire should be maintained and extended if necessary.
Guterres called the continuation of negotiations between Iran and the United States "necessary" and clarified that it is "unrealistic" to solve the complex and long-standing problems between the two countries in one meeting. According to him, the continuation of negotiations along with maintaining the ceasefire is a basic condition for reaching an understanding.
The UN Secretary General also pointed to his conversation with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and stated that the resumption of talks between Washington and Tehran is "very likely". He also welcomed Pakistan's role in supporting the peace process in the region.
This senior international official emphasized that now is the time for self-restraint, responsibility and preference for diplomacy over the escalation of tensions, and the commitment to international law should be strengthened once again.
Lebanon and Israel negotiations:
Guterres said in another part of his speech about the talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington: these talks are not expected to solve all the problems in the short term, but they can lead to a change in the behavior of the parties.
He considered the continuation of conflicts between Hezbollah and Israel as the cause of instability in Lebanon and emphasized that the country's government must maintain its sovereignty and monopoly on the use of force. He also called for cooperation between Lebanon and Israel.
The Secretary General of the United Nations expressed concern about the widespread violation of international law in the world, especially in the Middle East, and said: "The rules of war and the use of force are being ignored, and civilians are facing serious injuries."
He added: Ignoring humanitarian principles and violating the immunity of international institutions has dangerous consequences and can lead to more instability and destruction.
In recent days, reports indicate an increase in diplomatic movements among some countries in the region, including Pakistan and some European mediators, to reduce the tension between Iran and the United States. Also, some sources have announced efforts to create a new negotiation framework centered on reducing military tensions and exchanging limited concessions.
According to observers, the UN Secretary General's emphasis on the continuation of negotiations shows the concern of the international community about the return of military tensions in the region. Studies show that without sustainable and multilateral dialogues, it will be difficult to reach a lasting agreement between the parties. Also, according to experts, the role of mediating countries like Pakistan can be effective in reducing gaps and creating an atmosphere of trust.
