Al Jazeera: Ships continue to transit the Strait of Hormuz despite US claims
Al Jazeera reported that despite US claims of restricting or blocking Iranian ports, ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz continues as normal.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Al Jazeera's website wrote in a report that new shipping information shows that ships continue to transit the Strait of Hormuz despite the US announcement of a blockade of Iranian ports. This highlights the complex maritime landscape in one of the world's most vital energy transport routes.

The report states that, based on information published since the afternoon of April 13, the same day the US announced sanctions against ships bound for or departing from Iranian ports, at least 14 cargo ships have transited the Strait of Hormuz.

The report further emphasized that these movements included two ships that departed from Iranian ports, along with five Iranian-flagged ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Another prominent case was the Japanese cargo ship Hoshi Maru 126, which departed from Bandar Abbas and passed through the Strait of Hormuz a few hours after the US blockade began.

The Christina, which departed from Bandar Imam Khomeini, also passed through the Strait of Hormuz hours after the blockade began. The ship is managed by a company based in Greece. The published information refers to the passage of a number of other ships. These ships, which carried the Iranian flag, included container ships from China, India, Libya, as well as a ship bound for Sharjah. This indicates that trade flows through the Strait of Hormuz continue.

The US action has not led to an immediate halt to maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Some ships have changed their operational behavior, such as hiding tracking data, changing routes or delaying the announcement of their destinations.
