Increasing the share of TAPI gas; Save $900 million and create 200,000 jobs in Afghanistan
The completion and operation of the TAPI project in Afghanistan could save about $900 million annually and create jobs for 200,000 people, Foreign Ministry officials said.
Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that the amount of gas allocated to Afghanistan from the TAPI project has increased significantly, according to new estimates.

He said that in previous calculations, only 500 million cubic meters of gas were allocated to Afghanistan, but now the figure has reached 4.3 billion cubic meters.

Mr. Azam added that if only one billion cubic meters of this gas were used domestically, it could bring up to $900 million in economic savings annually. This level of exploitation could also create extensive job opportunities and employ about 200,000 people.

The TAPI project (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) is one of the largest gas pipeline projects in the region, which aims to transport Turkmen natural gas to South Asian countries via Afghanistan.

In addition to receiving gas, Afghanistan will also play an important role in the project as a transit route and can generate significant revenues from this route.

It is worth mentioning that increasing Afghanistan's gas share in the TAPI project, if implemented, could be a turning point in strengthening the national economy, reducing energy dependence and creating extensive job opportunities in the country.
