Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Reuters news agency reported a few hours ago, quoting Donald Trump: "If we do not reach an agreement by Wednesday, we may not extend the ceasefire and the blockade of Iranian ports will continue."
Trump has made very contradictory statements over the past two days. On the one hand, he claims that Iran has agreed to all of the US conditions and that an agreement is being made, and on the other hand, he expresses doubts about reaching an agreement with Iran.
Reuters also quoted Trump as saying: "We received good news about twenty minutes ago and it seems that things are going well with Iran."
Trump once again raised the Iranian nuclear issue, saying: “The most important thing is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
After threatening to continue the naval blockade of Iran if there is no agreement, he claimed that the 47-year hostility with Iran is about to end, adding: “Things are going well with Iran. Our challenge and entanglement with Iran has lasted 47 years, and this will end.”
While Iranian officials have emphasized that Iran’s enriched uranium will not be sent to any country, including the United States, Trump reiterated this claim, saying: “According to the agreement with Iran, we will take back the uranium, and after the agreement is signed, it will make a significant difference.”
Trump also raised the issue of Iran’s uranium withdrawal, saying: “We have not set a specific timetable for receiving enriched uranium from Iran, and we will obtain it either through the agreement or through an unfriendly way.”
The US President accused Iranian officials of not telling the truth, saying: “Everything has been agreed upon and Iran is saying otherwise because it has to please some parties. I’m just telling the truth as it is.”
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, he added: “When the war with Iran is over, we will celebrate at the White House.”
Yesterday (Friday), after announcing the news of the temporary opening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump took advantage of the situation and published a large number of messages on the social network “Truth Social” and made numerous claims about Iran’s acceptance of his requests.
On the other hand, Trump claimed in an interview with Bloomberg that Iran had agreed to indefinitely suspend its nuclear program and would not receive any of its frozen assets from the United States. He claimed that the deal to “end the war with Iran” was largely finalized and that talks for a permanent agreement would be held “probably this weekend.”
In a message on the Truth social network, Trump once again referred to the temporary opening of the Strait of Hormuz, writing that while Iran had insisted that the strait was already open to friendly countries, “President Xi Jinping of China is very pleased that the Strait of Hormuz is open or is rapidly opening.”
He also announced his upcoming meeting with the Chinese president, saying, “Our meeting in China will be a special and possibly historic meeting.” Trump added, “I look forward to meeting with President Xi. There will be a lot of accomplishments.” But he did not announce the exact date of the meeting or the details of its agenda.
