Ministry of Agriculture delegation visits research center in Russia / Afghanistan emphasizes food safety and export development
A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, during a visit to the Russian Federation, emphasized strengthening quality control systems, food safety and increasing laboratory capacities for export development by visiting an advanced research center.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock today (Saturday, April 18) issued a press release saying that the ministry’s delegation, led by Maulvi Zamir Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, visited the Research Center for Quality Assurance of Agricultural and Livestock Products in Russia and participated in a technical meeting with the center’s officials.

During this meeting, quality control systems, food safety and standardization of agricultural and livestock products were comprehensively reviewed. The center’s officials explained their activities based on advanced laboratory equipment and international standards and highlighted the role of these systems in ensuring the quality and safety of food.

According to the information provided, the analysis of agricultural and livestock products in this center is carried out through physical, chemical and microbiological methods. In addition, advanced technologies such as HPLC and GC chromatography are used to detect harmful residues, which are capable of measuring the amount of chemicals, including pesticides and heavy metals with high accuracy.

In the standardization sector, the center also uses international standard protocols, including ISO standards and Codex Alimentarius principles; an issue that is of key importance for the acceptance of products in global markets and the development of exports.

During the joint meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on expanding technical cooperation, strengthening quality control systems and improving laboratory capacities. Emphasis was also placed on implementing standard certification systems, training professional staff and creating a basis for increasing exports.
