Afghanistan and Russia emphasize the development of agricultural cooperation; agreement on joint projects and capacity building
During their visit to Russia, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan emphasized the regulation of exports and imports, quality control, plant quarantine and capacity building in a meeting with the country’s technical institutions, and the two sides agreed to launch joint projects and expand bilateral cooperation.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says that the delegation of the ministry, led by Maulvi Zamir Osmani, emphasized the regulation of exports and imports, quality control, plant quarantine and capacity building in a meeting with the country’s technical institutions, and the two sides agreed to launch joint projects and expand bilateral cooperation.

According to the ministry, the delegation held a joint meeting with the officials of the country’s technical institutions during its official visit to the Russian Federation.

In this meeting, important issues such as regulating the export and import process of agricultural products, quality control, strengthening plant quarantine systems and improving technical capacities were discussed and reviewed.

In this meeting, the two sides, emphasizing the importance of technical and scientific cooperation in the agricultural sector, agreed to launch joint projects and expand interactions in various agricultural fields.

The ministry’s statement stated that creating effective mechanisms to improve the quality of agricultural products and preventing the transmission of plant pests and diseases were also among the other areas of attention of this meeting.

In another part of the ministry’s statement, it was added that the Ministry of Agriculture delegation led by Molavi Osmani also visited the Plant Quarantine and Pest Control Research Center “VNIIKR” in Russia.

During this visit, officials of this center provided technical information on plant disease diagnosis methods, advanced quarantine systems and pest control methods.

It is said that during this meeting, detailed discussions were held on the development of scientific cooperation, providing technical training opportunities for Afghan specialists, and transferring experiences in research fields.

Experts believe that strengthening agricultural cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia can play an important role in improving the quality of domestic products, increasing exports, and sustainable growth of the agricultural sector in the country.
