Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Herat: The national equestrian competitions began in Herat Province with the participation of athletes from 14 provinces of Afghanistan. The competitions will be held in the province’s equestrian arena with the participation of Emirati officials, diplomats, and an enthusiastic welcome from citizens.
At the opening ceremony of the competitions, Maulvi Ahmadullah Wasiq, General Director of Physical Education and Sports of the country, while appreciating the organizers of this sports event, considered the role of Herat Province in hosting national programs important and prominent.
He emphasized that holding such competitions can play an effective role in the growth of sports, strengthening the spirit of solidarity among youth, and introducing the country’s sports capabilities. According to him, the country's Department of Physical Education and Sports will support sports development programs throughout Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Mufti Abdul Rahim Rahmani, Head of Physical Education, Sports and Olympics of Herat Province, described the holding of these competitions as a sign of the province's high capacity to host major sporting events.
He added that efforts have been made to provide the basis for holding healthy, organized and dignified competitions for the country's athletes and to create a suitable atmosphere for youth from all over Afghanistan to compete.
It is worth noting that these competitions were organized by the Afghanistan Equestrian Federation in cooperation with the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Olympics of Herat Province and the Equestrian Federation of the province and will last for eight days.
