Officials of the Herat Department of Encouraging Righteousness and Preventing Evil have announced the release of a woman from imprisonment and domestic violence in Zawal district of the province.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: According to officials, the woman, whose husband lives abroad, was kept in a small room by her father-in-law and some family members for about a month and her hands and feet were chained.
Maulvi Azizur Rahman al-Muhajir, head of the department, said that the woman was released from prison as a result of the efforts of the department's officials and that three people have been arrested in connection with this case. According to him, the arrested people have been introduced to the justice and judicial institutions for legal procedures.
Maulvi al-Muhajir added that the Herat Directorate of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil and Hearing Complaints has previously prevented several similar cases in the center and districts of this province and has taken legal action against the perpetrators.
