Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Lebanese House of Representatives Speaker Nabih Berri discussed developments in Lebanon and the region, the progress of the Islamabad talks, and issues of common concern during a phone call.
The two sides strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s aggressive actions against countries in the region, including Lebanon, and stressed the need for the international community to take action to end these barbaric actions in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in the martyrdom and injury of thousands of people, the destruction of residential areas and infrastructure in Lebanon, and the displacement of residents in these areas, and agreed to continue joint consultations and coordination.
In this conversation, the Iranian Foreign Minister, while explaining the latest status of the diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan, praised the exemplary resistance of the Lebanese people against the brutal attacks of the Zionist regime and emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm support for the Lebanese people. He also stated: “Stopping the Zionist regime’s aggression against Lebanon is part of the Iran-US ceasefire understanding, and this issue will be of concern to the Islamic Republic of Iran in any future process.”
Citing Tasnim, the Speaker of the Lebanese House of Representatives, referring to the repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon by the Zionist regime and the heroic resistance of the Lebanese people against the military aggression of the Zionist regime, emphasized the need to increase international pressure and take the necessary measures to hold the regime accountable for its actions.
Nabih Berri also appreciated the efforts made by Iran in supporting the positions that are in favor of Lebanon.
