China Bans Implementation of US Sanctions on Chinese Companies Linked to Iran
Following the announcement of US oil sanctions, China’s Ministry of Commerce today issued a legal order prohibiting any recognition, implementation or compliance with US sanctions against five Chinese companies imposed on the pretext of their alleged involvement in Iranian oil transactions.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): China’s Ministry of Commerce announced on Saturday that it has issued a legal injunction to block US sanctions against five Chinese refining companies accused of buying Iranian oil.
The ministry named the five companies as: Hengli Petrochemical Refinery (Dalian) and the so-called “Tea Pot” refineries including Shandong Jincheng Petrochemical Group, Hebei Xinhai Chemical Group, Shuguang Luqing Petrochemical and Shandong Xingxing Chemical.
China's Ministry of Commerce said the US sanctions violated "international law and basic norms of international relations." The ministry added: "This ban stipulates that the US cannot recognize, implement or comply with the sanctions imposed on the five Chinese companies."
