Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The explosion occurred at a facility run by the Huasheng Fireworks Production and Display Company in Liuyang, the capital of Hunan Province.
Chinese authorities said rescue operations were immediately launched, with more than 480 personnel deployed in five teams, along with rescue robots.
The explosion occurred near two black powder warehouses, and officials said there were concerns about possible secondary explosions, prompting residents to evacuate and a safety buffer zone to be set up near the blast site.
Chinese police have detained the manager of the Huasheng company, and authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
