Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Musa Abu Marzouk", head of the Hamas International Relations Office, said in an interview with the "Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed" website: What is currently happening within the movement is not a comprehensive internal election, but rather a consultative organizational procedure aimed at filling vacancies in leadership positions, including the positions that Hamas is seeking to fill, the leadership of the movement and completing the current term of leadership, which has a few months left, and now the names of Khaled Meshaal and Khalil Al-Hayyah are being considered for the leadership of the movement.
Abu Marzouk said: The process of selecting the head of the movement is coming to an end and it is expected that this will be done in May.
Hamas intends to elect the head of its political bureau after the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, and this action will be taken within the next three weeks.
In this regard, some sources in Hamas told Ma'an News Agency: Elections are the only way to elect the head of the political bureau. However, efforts are underway to increase the chances of "Khaled Meshaal" as someone who has been the head of Hamas for 20 years, has extensive relations with all countries and their leaders, and enjoys popular popularity.
These sources believe that among the characteristics of Khaled Meshaal is his serious stance in uniting the leaders of the movement and maintaining internal unity, and his election could send a more moderate message to Arab countries and international parties than Hayyeh.
Hamas previously elected "Yahya Sinwar" as the replacement for the martyr "Ismail Haniyeh", and he assumed responsibility for the leadership council until the new head of Hamas' political bureau is elected.
The head of Hamas's international relations office emphasized in another part of the conversation: Israel and the United States are not adhering to the agreements they signed, and this is not surprising because they have not adhered to the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement either.
He added: The Hamas movement is in constant contact with various Palestinian groups with the aim of formulating a unified Palestinian position against proposals and developments.
