Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): In response to Iran's opposition to dismantling its nuclear facilities, which is an excessive US demand, in a message on X, the Russian representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency Mikhail Ulyanov raised the question of "why should Iran accept this US demand?"
The Russian diplomat went on to describe such a demand as violating the NPT and added, "It seems that Washington does not care at all about preserving the integrity of the nuclear non-proliferation regime."
Ulyanov refers to Article 4 of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which states that the right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy, including enrichment, is reserved for all member states, and that no country can force another to dismantle its lawful facilities. Such a demand undermines the integrity of the regime, as it sends the message that great powers can deprive other countries of their rights at will.
