Pakistan's Foreign Ministry has summoned the clerk of the Afghan embassy in Islamabad over the deadly attack on a police checkpoint in the Banu area and informed him of the country's strong protests.
The ministry said in a statement that the car bomb attack on the Fateh Khel police checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was planned and carried out by members of the group called the Setna al-Khawarij. The term used by the Pakistani government for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Islamabad has claimed, without providing evidence, that preliminary investigations, technical evidence and intelligence indicate that the masterminds of the attack were on Afghan soil.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said the use of Afghan territory for attacks against the country had raised serious security concerns.
Pakistan also warned in the statement that it reserves the right to respond decisively to the perpetrators of the attack.
The Islamic Emirate has always denied the presence of armed groups in Afghanistan.
At least 15 Pakistani security forces were reportedly killed and several others wounded in an attack on a police checkpoint in Bannu on Saturday night. According to Pakistani officials, the attackers attacked security forces with heavy weapons and armed quadcopters after a car bomb exploded.
