Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Maulavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Chinese Special Representative for Afghanistan Yu Xiaoving on strengthening bilateral relations, regional developments and progress in the Urumqi talks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
According to the report, Mr. Muttaqi said that Afghanistan's foreign policy is based on regional stability, balance, economic cooperation and mutual respect, and stressed that the success of the negotiations requires practical measures, strengthening trust and reducing tensions.
In contrast, the Chinese Special Representative also stressed the importance of serious interaction, trust-building and understanding between the parties and said that the next stages of the Urumqi talks should provide the ground for achieving practical results.
The two sides also agreed to continue the Urumqi talks based on a clear, practical and results-oriented agenda to help strengthen stability and sustainable cooperation in the region.
The Urumqi talks have been one of the most important axes of regional consultations on Afghanistan in recent months. In recent years, China has sought to play a more active role in political and economic engagement with Afghanistan, emphasizing the development of regional cooperation, economic connectivity and stability.
