Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian Presidential Palace (Kremlin), told RIA Novosti that Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements about the nomination of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder for negotiations between Moscow and Brussels have sparked a storm of discussion in Europe.
He added: Moscow has not yet received a response from Europe about Schröder's nomination for Russia-EU negotiations.
Relations between Russia and the European Union have soured since the start of the Ukraine war. Instead of an interactive approach to resolving issues with Moscow, European countries have turned to increasing defense spending and weapons production.
