Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The National Standards Authority (Standards and Quality) signed a contract to build and equip laboratory complexes in the center and nine ports of the country with the representation of an international Indian company (TCRC) today, Wednesday, at a meeting at the Government Information and Media Center in Kabul, worth more than $46 million.
The meeting was held in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Faizullah Tamim, Director General of the National Standards Authority, and a number of government officials.
Mullah Faizullah Tamim, Director General of the National Standards Authority, described the contract as an important step towards strengthening the quality assurance and control system, supporting standardized products, and preventing the import of substandard goods.
He added that the agency under his leadership, in continuing its efforts to strengthen quality infrastructure, improve laboratory capacities, and standardize the process of quality assurance of goods, has signed a contract for the construction and equipping of laboratory complexes with the representation of the Indian International Company (TCRC).
He added that this project includes equipping laboratories in three basic sectors: construction materials, electrical equipment and devices, and textile, leather, and paper sectors.
The Director General of the National Standards Authority stated that based on this contract, standardized laboratory complexes will be constructed in the center and ports in question, and advanced laboratory equipment will be purchased and installed.
He also described the calibration and repair of the department's existing equipment and the introduction of foreign experts to enhance the professional capacities of employees as important parts of this contract.
Tamim noted that based on this contract, domestic and foreign training programs will be held for professional employees of the Standards and Quality Department, and the process of obtaining globally recognized certificates from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will also be implemented.
The head of the National Standards Department described the signing of this contract as an important and vital step in strengthening the quality control and stabilization system, supporting standardized products, preventing the import of low-quality items, and developing quality infrastructure in Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that this contract is worth 46 million 348 thousand 292 dollars and has been concluded for a period of five years.
