Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The US State Department says that no Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) have been issued to Afghan applicants since the beginning of this year.
The ministry said in a report that the presidential proclamation has completely stopped issuing visas to Afghan citizens.
The report states that although the process of reviewing applications and interviews continues, no visas have been issued to Afghan passport holders since the beginning of this year.
The State Department said that they have continued to review applications from Afghan applicants in coordination with the US Department of Homeland Security and other agencies.
The ministry noted that there are still 5,970 visa numbers remaining for future principal applicants.
The US State Department also added that more than 23,000 applicants have received COM approval since the beginning of 2026.
