Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Higher Education has announced that on the sidelines of the 17th International Meeting "Russia and the Islamic World" in the Republic of Tatarstan, the first meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission between Afghanistan and the Russian Federation was held in Kazan with the presence of delegations from both countries.
The most important focus of this meeting was expanding economic and trade cooperation, developing transit routes, and attracting investment; an issue that both sides considered a fundamental step in strengthening bilateral relations and entering a new stage of cooperation.
In this meeting, Sheikh Nad Mohammad Nadim, Minister of Higher Education, said in his speech that Afghanistan, as an independent country and an important member of the Islamic world, wants balanced and positive interaction with the international community, and the country's geographical location can make Afghanistan an economic bridge between Central and South Asia.
He emphasized that relations between Afghanistan and Russia have entered a new stage and this process will pave the way for broader cooperation in the political, economic and scientific sectors.
In contrast, the Russian official welcomed the holding of the joint commission, describing it as important for the development of economic, transit and investment cooperation between the two countries.
In this meeting, the two sides have designated joint technical teams to work on various economic and trade issues in a coordinated manner and prepare practical plans.
It is worth noting that the Afghan delegation has traveled to Kazan to participate in the 17th International Meeting "Russia and the Islamic World".
