Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Khorov said in an online interview that these tensions have put pressure on regional trade, especially Pakistan's ties with Central Asian countries and Russia, and have faced serious problems for some economic sectors, including Pakistan's pharmaceutical industry.
According to him, important regional projects such as transit routes and the "Afghan Trans" railway have been slowed down and delayed as a result of the current unstable atmosphere. The Russian ambassador also added that the fate of major energy projects, including CASA-1000 and TAPI, remains uncertain.
The Russian ambassador stressed that Moscow is ready to play the role of a mediator between Afghanistan and Pakistan, if requested by both sides, to reduce tensions and restore economic cooperation.
In another part of his speech, Khorov said that the current Afghan government has managed to maintain a level of stability and efficiency despite sanctions, banking restrictions, and asset freezes. He believes that if the Islamic Emirate is recognized or its assets are released, Kabul can play a more active role in regional cooperation and combat challenges such as terrorism and refugee management.
At the same time, diplomatic sources say that China and a number of regional countries have also emphasized the need to reduce tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. These countries believe that peace and stability in relations between Kabul and Islamabad are vital for advancing regional connectivity projects, developing trade, investment, and energy cooperation.
