A few hours after the US President's warning about declaring its independence, Taiwan's Foreign Ministry emphasized that Taiwan is a sovereign and independent democratic country and is not under the sovereignty of the People's Republic of China.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The ministry emphasized: US arms sales to Taiwan are within the framework of Washington's commitments to the country and are a form of deterrence against regional threats.
This stance comes after US President Donald Trump announced last night after visiting China that he had suspended the sale of $12 billion in arms to Taiwan.
Trump also said, with an implicit threat to China regarding Taiwan: "I will keep these arms sales suspended and it depends on China."
