Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock issued a press release saying that Mawlawi Osmani described Afghanistan as an agricultural country in this meeting and considered climate change, drought, economic restrictions and food shortages as the major challenges facing the Afghan people.
According to him, these challenges have had a wide impact on the livelihoods of the people and the growth trend of the agricultural sector and have increased the need for greater cooperation and coordination among Islamic countries in the field of food security.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, while welcoming the implementation of the Afghan Food Security Program under the umbrella of the Islamic Food Security Organization in the provinces of Herat, Logar, Balkh and Jawzjan, called for the expansion of this program to other provinces of the country.
He also emphasized strengthening cooperation among Islamic countries in the areas of investment, agricultural and livestock development, water resources management, pest and disease control, improving the marketing of agricultural products, and comprehensive support for farmers and livestock keepers.
Molavi Osmani called cooperation and coordination among Islamic countries important and vital for achieving sustainable food security, economic growth, and strengthening the agricultural sector in Islamic countries.
It is worth noting that the Islamic Food Safety Organization is one of the institutions affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which aims to strengthen cooperation among Islamic countries in the fields of ensuring food security, agricultural development, natural resource management, and combating food crises.
