Russia and China are developing a new-generation heavy helicopter in a joint project that will be designed to suit China’s needs.

Viktor Kladov, Rostec’s director for international cooperation, said the project could become a major achievement once it enters the market.
According to reports, the helicopter will have a payload capacity of 14 to 16 tons, more than the Mi-171 and less than the Mi-26.
In this project, the Chinese company Avicopter is responsible for the main design, while Rostec is developing parts such as the gearbox and power transmission system.
The project is said to have passed the state evaluation stage in China and has entered the path of joint production.
